Hamlet Reading Blog #1

Hey Folks, here's your first Hamlet blog. Have some fun with it. When you're done, please comment on at least two of your peers' blogs as well. Your blog should include a link to a site relevant to your topic and a photo as well.

Hamlet, trying to make friends any way he can...

We have just finished reading the exposition of the play Hamlet, where we are introduced to the main conflict, the setting, and the important characters in the work. You've learned about the strife that troubles the state of Denmark, the new wedding of Claudius and Gertrude and, most importantly, of the inner torment that faces our enigmatic hero, Prince Hamlet. What is to be made of Hamlet's opening Act, from a critical point of view?
Writing from the perspective of someone OTHER THAN HAMLET, describe what that character's point of view would be regarding the following:
a) Hamlet's sulky behaviour
b) the problems posed to Denmark by the young upstart, Young Fortinbras
c) the new King and his marriage to Queen Gertrude
d) the death of King Hamlet

Write a paragraph or two using the voice of one of the following characters:
i) Ophelia
ii) Horatio
iii) Claudius
iv) Polonius

Remember only to reference material from Act I. If you can refer to specific quotes that is great, but what's most important is that you capture their point of view and show specific understanding of the play's themes, symbols, and plot.
